How Your Diet Could Be Affecting Your Tinnitus?
Research has shown that your diet can have a big effect on your overall health, and subsequently impact your ability to manage your tinnitus. Eating well-balanced meals will improve your sense of well-being and can also help to prevent many illnesses. Caffeine has been found, in some individuals, to directly increase tinnitus severity and disturbance. Caffeine is found in many beverages including coffee, tea, and soft drinks, but can also be found in chocolate. If you suspect that caffeine may be triggering or exacerbating your tinnitus, it is recommended that you decrease your consumption by replacing these items with decaffeinated versions, juices or water. Other people report that artificial sweeteners, such as those found in diet soda, increase their tinnitus severity. Again, substituting alternative types of beverages for these diet beverages for several weeks may allow you to determine if their use directly impacts your tinnitus. For individuals whose tinnitus may be triggered by excessive fluid build-up in the inner ear, reducing sodium in your diet may also help to prevent the tinnitus from worsening. Some of these tips are quite common sense for helping you live a healthier life; certainly your overall health can strongly affect your tinnitus as well.
